Northgate Yard
Bridgwater, Somerset
With a value of £1.6m, Northgate Yard is now a thriving leisure space to cater for the community, including a 7-screen cinema, a sports bar, an 8-lane bowling alley, and 12,00ft2 of dining and restaurant space, among other amenities to suit the growing Somerset population.
Challenge
A complex design, Northgate Yard's exterior construction utilised a mix of different systems, all working cohesively to create a secure fix and stunning façade: a unique triangular design that moves with the changing light throughout the course of a day.
A real demonstration of façade creativity was shown in the façade panels used - the South-West's premier roofing and cladding contractor progressive were contracted for the building envelope construction, utilising different systems on the retail units and cinema.
For the cinema roof, the IKO PermaTEC hot melt roof system was used, as well as the installation of Euroclad's Elite built-up systems.
On the walls of both of the cinema and retail units: Kingspan Micro-Rib, Karrier, and Wave panels, as well as Rockpanel Colours & Chameleon rainscreen façade panels, and the Marley Eternit Tectiva panel system.
Solution
We were able to supply progressive with fasteners colour matched exactly to the colourful blend of different façade panels - within our standard fast turnaround of 2-3 working days. Supplying DrillFast A4 low profile lacquered fasteners for the composite panels as well as the rainscreen panels, we provided progressive with a fail-safe solution to fix the unique construction.

"Northgate Yard was a fantastic project for us. We loved tackling the unique façade design - it's what our in-house team does best! Success on a complex project like this, with its demanding design and strict timeline, comes down to teamwork and attention to detail. Fixfast's two-day turnaround on high-quality, lacquered fasteners not only ensured we stayed on schedule but also gave us confidence in the durability and finish of the installation. We're thrilled with how everything came together."
