Following Brexit, the Government announced its intention to cease recognition of CE Marking in the UK and replace it with UKCA Marking. Whilst this was not a surprise to the industry, the infrastructure in terms of certification and testing in the UK was not up to the task within the timescale set.
Following extensive consultation with the CPA and other stakeholders, The DLUHC (Dept. for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities) has recently confirmed that the recognition of CE Marking on Construction Products in the UK has been extended to June 2025.
In line with our policy of Maximum Reliability, Minimum Fuss, Fixfast has made all the necessary steps internally for UKCA Marking our products: we are pleased to say we have achieved this on some of our product ranges. However, due to the lack of available certification capacity, it hasn’t been possible for all relevant products, in the timescale.
We therefore welcome the Government's decision and look forward to engaging with the various stakeholders as the certification for Construction Products in the UK is developed and clarified over the coming two years.
In the meantime, our CE marking remains valid in the UK, and continues to be the standard for product approvals that fastener buyers should look for.
CE Marking for fasteners requires externally verified performance testing and regular ongoing surveillance auditing of production and QC functions. Ultimately, certification and compliance with standards means safety is assured.
