Lloyd's of London
Lime Street, London
Home to the institutional insurance company Lloyd's of London, the building stands out as being truly recognisable - 3 towers around the central glass atrium, standing over 60 metres tall.
A full site survey was carried out in 2020, establishing the need for a full refurbishment of all the flat roofs across the building.
Challenge
The building had 10 flat roofs needing refurbishment, but the project presented challenges due to the roofs housing the building's maintenance systems. Additionally, the work had to be carried out over an active working environment, necessitating minimal disruption.
Another challenge faced was the logistics of bringing the construction materials to the roof itself - the complexity of 10 roofs meant that each roof required a separate crane to provide the materials and work within the City of London's requirements.
Specialist roofing and building contractor Inspire Contract Services used Bauder's BTRS PLUS built-up felt roofing system across the 10 roofs, installing the system smoothly and in line with the strict and complex requirements.
Solution
Inspire Contract Services used our products across multiple roof locations, including stainless steel fasteners and lacquered DrillFast low profile fasteners for trims around the roof, and leafguards for rainwater outlets, preventing debris from blocking the rainwater drainage systems.
Inspire Contract Services won 2 awards for the successful completion of the Lloyd's of London project, at the 2024 NFRC UK Roofing Awards - the overall Industry Choice Award, and the Reinforced Bitumen Membranes Award, in conjunction with Bauder.
